Rankine Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) Reagents Test Kit

This test kit is designed for the precise determination of free and total sulfur dioxide (SO2) in wine, allowing winemakers to control SO2 levels for preservation and stabilization of the wine.

Specification:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide (0.3%): 500ml
  • Orthophosphoric Acid (25%): 500ml
  • Sodium Hydroxide (0.010M): 500ml
  • Rankine Mixed SO2 Indicator: 50ml

Uses and Application:

The Rankine Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) Reagents Test Kit is primarily used in the winemaking process to measure both free and bound sulfur dioxide levels in wine. SO2 is crucial for preventing oxidation and microbial growth, preserving the wine's quality during storage and aging. This kit is widely applicable to both red and white wines, and it can also be used for testing other beverages or food products where SO2 is used as a preservative.

Storage:

  • Store all reagents in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ensure that containers are tightly sealed to prevent leakage or contamination.
  • Keep out of reach of children and ensure proper labeling for safety.

Hazardous Information:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide (0.3%): Can cause skin and eye irritation upon contact. Harmful if ingested or inhaled.
  • Orthophosphoric Acid (25%): Corrosive to skin and eyes. May cause severe burns or respiratory irritation.
  • Sodium Hydroxide (0.010M): Corrosive and can cause burns to skin and eyes. Harmful if ingested or inhaled.

Safety Measures:

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, eye protection, and lab coats when handling reagents.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhalation of fumes, especially when using acids or bases.
  • If contact with skin or eyes occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
  • In case of spills, neutralize acids and bases before cleaning up and disposing of materials properly.
  • Always follow local disposal regulations for chemical waste.
